The purpose of the Elgin Hispanic Network (EHN) Adult Student Scholarship Program is to assist an adult - over the age 19 and up to age 65 - of Hispanic heritage who is pursuing an undergraduate college education, vocational or trade school curriculum. This scholarship of up to $1,500.00 will be awarded in November of 2025. Award decisions are made by the EHN Board of Directors based on the recommendations of the EHN Awards Committee, which consists of volunteers from the community.

EHN awards are based upon the applicant’s:

  • Financial need
  • Demonstration of bilingualism and biculturalism
  • Involvement within and on behalf of the local Hispanic community
  • Evidence of work towards stated career goals

Finalists may be asked to participate in a brief interview, at which time proof of income and tax returns may need to be provided. The selected finalist will be requested (but not required) to provide signed permission to be featured in photo or video on EHN’s online and social media presence.

Important Note: The scholarship check is only made out to and mailed directly to the school at which the adult student finalist is enrolled OR to the bank where the adult student finalist may have accrued student loans. Checks are NOT made out to the individual award finalist.

DACA and other undocumented students are encouraged to apply.
