The purpose of the Elgin Hispanic Network (EHN) Scholarship Program is to assist Hispanic high school students in pursing an undergraduate college education or trade school curriculum. Toward this end, EHN awards three $1,500 scholarships to continuing full-time high school students of Hispanic heritage. Award decisions are made by the EHN Board of Directors based on the recommendations of the EHN Scholarship Committee, which consists of volunteers from the community.
EHN awards are based upon the applicant’s:
▪ Academic performance
▪ Extracurricular activities
▪ Financial need
▪ Community involvement within and on behalf of the Hispanic community
▪ Demonstration of bilingualism and biculturalism will be considered
▪ Description of career goals
Finalists may be asked to participate in a brief interview, at which time proof of income and tax returns may need to be provided. Selected recipients may be requested to provide a signed release for a photograph and video for the EHN website/Facebook page.
DACA students are encouraged to apply.
