2023 INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR

JOSE CUEVAS - 2022 Individual of the Year

Jose is the esteemed President of Wisdom Investments, a reputable Illinois Registered Investment Advisor, where he has exhibited outstanding leadership in the financial services industry for over two decades. Additionally, he actively participates in community development as a board member and Treasurer of the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation.

In his commitment to youth development, Jose selflessly volunteers his time as a baseball coach for ENLL, where he has successfully coached and mentored numerous young players. He has also demonstrated his passion for youth sports as an assistant coach for the Elgin Bears youth football team.

Jose has made significant contributions to various charitable organizations in the community, including Friends of the Fox River, Centro de Informacion, the Greater Elgin Food Bank, The Elgin Lions Club, and Elgin Rotary. Jose's involvement in serving as a youth small group leader at his church remains close to his heart.

CROSS KICKS FITNESS - 2022 Organization of the Year

The Elgin Hispanic Network (EHN) has recently named Cross Kicks Fitness (CKF) as the 2022 Organization of the Year. CKF, located in South Elgin, stands out for its unique approach to fitness and its commitment to giving back to the community. Owned and operated by Jesse Colón and Jazmine Constantino, CKF offers a dynamic workout experience that combines various fitness disciplines in a 40-minute power workout.

One of CKF's distinguishing features is its no-class-times policy, allowing members to join in at their convenience. With a focus on strength training, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), boxing, and kickboxing, CKF incorporates the latest fitness movements into its workouts. The South Elgin location is one of six CKF branches in the local area, providing accessible fitness options to the community.

Jesse and Jazmine, the owners of CKF South Elgin, have been actively involved in promoting Hispanic heritage and supporting the youth. They established the annual Hispanic Heritage Month Charity Workout Fiesta, where the workouts and music embrace Hispanic themes. The proceeds raised from this event are directed towards the Elgin Hispanic Network Scholarship Fund, aiming to empower young individuals in their pursuit of higher education.

Motivated by their own cultural backgrounds, with Jesse having Puerto Rican heritage and Jazmine being of Mexican descent, the couple felt inspired to create the CKF Charity Workout Fiesta. Having both been part of a Quad Cities Upward Bound program during high school, they understand the importance of nurturing and encouraging young people to pursue their educational goals. They chose to donate to the Elgin Hispanic Network Scholarship Fund due to the organization's remarkable efforts in fostering community connections and making a positive impact in numerous ways.

To stay informed about future charity workout events, individuals can follow CKF South Elgin's Facebook page and visit the Cross Kicks Fitness website for more details about the gym's offerings and activities. CKF South Elgin is conveniently located at 317 Randall Rd, South Elgin, IL 60177. By blending fitness and philanthropy, Cross Kicks Fitness has undoubtedly earned its recognition as the Elgin Hispanic Network's 2022 Organization of the Year, exemplifying the power of community engagement and dedication to supporting the next generation.
